To be beautiful. I speak these wisdom filled words to myself every time I do a decorating project. These are not my words…they are The Nester’s, but they speak volumes to me…I have adopted this as my decorating mantra. I have been nagging (yes, after asking nicely 3 times it is officially nagging…though I continued to ask nicely 😉 ) my husband to hang curtain rod holder thingys on a small wall in my kitchen…not around a window. I know that this may not be a huge risk…but if you know of the paint color debacle that is my home, you know that putting holes in the wall is a risk for me. So after hanging with Johnny Depp on a plane (that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but let’s just say that I should’ve gotten a tshirt that says “my husband shared a plane with Johnny Depp & all I got was this tshirt)…he finally hung the curtain rod hanger thingys…not for curtains. I like to decorate with things that make me reminisce…the subject today is my Great-Great-Grandmother’s rolling pin. I thought it would be perfect decor for my kitchen & these little thingys hold it perfectly!
So here she is…in all her glory…I think of Grannie every time I look at it (I didn’t know her Grandmother). I have other risky business in the queue for that blank space above the rolling pin…those pictures will come later :).
Today’s secret revealed…the whole ‘it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful’ thing is not penetrating my brain to allow that space above to be filled…it is my perfectionism Achilles heel (photoshop)…I am really trying to let it just be, but I can’t yet.
