Well, I was born in the ’70s, but my ‘formitive’ years were the ’80s. I loved little critters…I had squirrels, hamsters, gerbils…weird looking back, but I had quite an array of them. My kids have been BEGGING for a pet for a really, really long time. They would have been happy with a goldfish, they were becoming desperate. Every time they were asked to draw a family picture…it included a dog…that we don’t have. Owen brought home a little project “If I had $100 I would buy_______” he filled in the blank with “a dog”. They had even resorted to taking turns pretending to be the puppy dog. I was starting to feel really guilty. I had even had fleeting thoughts of getting a dog…those thoughts faded quickly when I came back to reality and remembered that I have 4 kids…well, 5 if you include Darling Husband (and though he is handy with the power tools…still as much ‘maintenance’ as the kids…possibly more), I certainly did not need a 6th! Plus, E & DH are allergic to dogs…case closed.
Wednesday morning, I was getting my daily dose of Facebook…and a friend was giving away 3 baby guinea pigs…one look at that picture and it was all over…I wanted not one, but two…they are social critters, so having each other would make them happier. We are no longer a pet-less family!
Meet Gizmo and Spike :). Can you guess who is who? They are such cute little boogers! They are gonna have to get used to the chaotic nature of our home, but I think they are a wonderful addition to our family. They even talk to each other…I would love to know what they are saying…probably “I hope they know not to feed us after midnight”.
Today’s secret revealed…I usually try to do at least one post about food per week, but the only thing worth blogging about that I made was a Reese’s Cup Cake that I made for a special birthday celebration at my weekly girls’ group…it is the only recipe that my Mom has forbidden me to share. Needless to say, the W.A.C. girls are planning a revolt…

Great site you have here but I was curious about
if you knew of any message boards that cover the same topics talked about here?
I’d really like to be a part of community
where I can get advice from other experienced individuals that share the same interest.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!
